This series was part of a project focused on initiatives and programs that provide access to education for at-risk and remote young people (link here). These portraits, taken in the dusty far north of Western Australia, are an attempt to raise awareness and generate discussion for the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation’s Early Learning Centre in the Wakathuni Community. At Wakathuni, Gumala is trying not just to educate young Indigenous children, but to impart upon and develop in them a lifelong joy for learning. Here, teacher Emily is pictured with some of the children.
